I took the liberty to retweet a blog by dieterrogiers. It involves a something that I was talking about a few posts ago.
I think the above illustration says it all. When nothing is done about pollution, it takes over. It changes the molecular structure of everything. There will be more said about this at a later date.
This morning I heard on NPR another interesting fact about change. The Salvation Army is selling its Bowery location to a real estate/hotel developer. I believe they are Ace Hotels. This too applies to an earlier post on affordable housing, building condos on landfills and the making of Petropolis.
Although there are pros and cons to gentrification, the disappearance of Skid Row is interesting. Goodbye to the homeless, drunks and “bums.” Hello to boutique hotels and Internet coffee bars. It is the end of an era. Gone are the days when New York belonged to everyone, not just the rich.
