Marfa Texas, Detroit and Karpland…

Been reading about this place called Marfa Texas. Larry Clark the filmmaker/photographer did a film. Donald Judd helped the area become a spot for the arts. Seems rather remote and I have yet to watch the film. Now that Nurse Jackie’s season finally was last week, perhaps tonight. Only available on http://www. This may be a new destination point for artists. I have heard a lot about Detroit and Karpland as well. So my next question is: is New York completely done in terms of the arts? We all know its a great place but if you’re an artist, can you survive here? Where is all the affordable housing and studio space? What about if you’re just starting out or just trying to survive? I hate to harp on the situation but something needs to be done. I have noticed that there is more and more luxury housing being built then ever before. Nice for some but Condo Cancer is spreading. Looks like its time to move to Marfa or maybe Detroit. I hear Cambodia is affordable these days as well. Will these places be the next centers for the arts?
