Although I may sound like a clairvoyant, I don’t profess to be. I think I am fairly sensitive to my environment and was picking up on the casino plan, before it made it into the news. I also think we are grasping at straws at this point. Liberty State Park is a nice place and serves the community well. It has ferries that go to the Statue Of Liberty as well as Elis Island. People from all over the world make use of the park and it serves as a destination point for many. The only problem I have ever had with it is the fact that the Statue Of Liberty has her back towards it. She faces New York but not New Jersey. I’ve suggested many times that we rotate her from time to time, but this has fallen on deaf ears…pity.
Anyway so the buzz is that they are planning to put this new casino, ferris wheel, parking and a hotel in the park. There is The Barkleys Golf Course near Porte Liberte, which is a small but seemingly wealthy community. I’m sure they are thrilled with this new proposal. And like most of these ideas, it will probably go through and end the end not be such a good idea at all.
Upon further reading it turns out that Atlantic City is going broke and this is probably the states idea of a quick fix.
If you ask me, it seems to be another clusterfuck in the making. Perhaps a Petropolis would be the real solution. Especially one that can float. This way we can share the casino, racetrack and whatever else they decide to throw in there. Anyway it’s not turning out to be as successful an endeavor for Karpland as they are finding out.
Stay tuned…
