Yesterday I was reading that Trump in SOHO isn’t doing as well as anticipated. Not enough occupants and therefore may be going under. Then today I see that developers are continuing to invade Brooklyn and kill whatever culture is left. Up and down 4th avenue seems to be where it’s all happening. I seriously need to stop reading and writing about how people are coming in and making it all homogenous. The charm of 4th ave was the seediness, ethnic stores and the antique stores, which have now all gone. It’s being gobbled up by a bunch of Godzillas at an alarmingly fast rate. I still find it all too much to take in. I will continue to track it and work it into a story.
On a more optimistic note, Zebra Poetry Film Festival, 2014, Berlin will be here soon. Again if you find yourself in Berlin in October (16-19) In The Circus Of You will be shown that Saturday evening. I believe the program I’m part of starts at 7PM.
Also my good friend Jim Pustorino is having a show in Bushwick:
Odetta Gallery, 229 Cook Street, Brooklyn, NY. Opening Oct.11 (my father’s birthday.) Show runs through Nov. 9. Hours: Fri-Sun, 1-6 PM.
Also, I found it interesting that Scotland voted not to strike out on it’s own. I guess they realized it would’ve be a lot of work and an enormous amount of change. Probably didn’t want to take the blue out of the flag.
