The Opening…

The opening was a huge success!! Sandy and I both sold work to the government or Rhein-Neckar-Kreis. They ended up buying Mali and hopefully will be making prints of the work. If the prints happen it will be a bonus.

Also they will have a copy of the animation. This way they can use it and help promote my book.

I traded a piece with another artist Roswitha who is a print maker. She has a wonderful print of a suitcase describing parts of the Holocaust. When I see her next week she will also give me a catalogue that the piece was in. Bringing so many books back, I’m hoping my luggage is still under the weight limit.

There seems to be this running joke about my encountering the ghost(s) here in the Kommandantenhaus. Every time there is an event and someone gets up to make a speech (which is in German) they always mention my name and the word ghosts. This gets a big laugh from the audience. As gifts they gave us 2 HUGE bottles of wine which has to be the equivalent to more than 2 regular bottles. It felt like I was receiving an Oscar. One we will bring tonight to Gerd. He is having a BBQ and judging from the size of these bottles, I’m sure he will never have to buy wine again. They also gave us a book describing the music that they have here. Inside the back cover are a few CD’s. All very delightful.

Here are some highlights:

This is Herr Werner. He shares my love of elephants.

This week we have 2 meetings and hopefully will get to Frankfurt.
