And here is a bit of history. In The Z Factor I wrote about the 10th Street artist run galleries. This is the area where Ivan discovered some of his artists. I found this article very interesting:


Seems as though artists as a group were respected more back then by landlords. I suppose everything is relevant in terms of the real estate market and who dominates the art world. Even though I am writing and my examples are based where I live, it is happening all over the world. People talk about Detroit and Havana and how artists are and will be flocking to these areas that need an economic boost and will bring its residents out of poverty. I still need to get to Cuba before this economic boost sets in. The developers are eyeing this tiny island and one can just imagine the drool that is pouring into the ocean. So before the sea of saliva gets larger, hopefully I’ll get there before it’s too late.
