I wasn’t going to blog today but this is heart breaking:
And I don’t know what to say about this. When an influx of new people come to NYC, in this case the French, they are ready to buy into the system which is pushing artists out. They usually are the ones that will pay the high rents even if it’s only for a short period of time. Then they leave and go home or move to another area and again are willing to continue the process. But it’s good to know that New York is still the place where people want to be. Problem is EVERYONE wants to be here. Only time will tell if all these investments will either sink the island or continue to make it a cultural no-mans land.
On a lighter note if you find yourself in this weekend in Bushwick, the NEWD Art Show is the place to be.
No real news on the Karpland front. Started another larger installation piece. It’s great because I’m flushing out new ideas as the piece develops.
So again stay tuned…
