Berry Lane Park, Chromium And Other Things…

unnamed-1unnamed

The area I live in is called Bergan Lafayette in Jersey City. It is becoming gentrified and sits on top of a chromium dump. The city is building a park across the street, Berry Lane Park. They renamed my neighborhood Berry Lane. I suppose after the park. They supposedly cleaned out some of the chromium but there is a lot more to go, something like 700,000 tons. I may have gotten the numbers wrong but I don’t think so. The park is in place and they are working very hard to get it up and running by November. Personally it sounds like poor urban planning, a park on a chromium dump, parking is limited, concrete fields instead of grass and oh yes, we will have surveillance cameras, but no cops patrolling. No fence around the park either. Hmmmmmmmmmm, and people ask me if I am happy about the park coming in. I think I would be if whoever is sponsoring this would be a little more concerned as to what this might bring. But we shall see.
