Gowanus and Flooding

Marta13

Many years ago I owned a loft in this area. Ended up selling and moving to rural New Jersey. After my divorce I decided that country life wasn’t for me and moved back to the grit and the grime (not to mention crime and ending up in Jersey City. It turned out to be a good move. Another loft and closer to work and the city. I always felt bad about selling the loft that was 2 blocks from the Gowanus Canal, but upon seeing these photos I’m convinced that I have an angel looking out for me. Also I grew up not far from this area and I recognize all the buildings, the overpass, etc. Recently I drove through and checked out how much the area has changed. Threw me into the nostalgic zone but like I said, everything happens for a reason:

Do we really need more Jeff Koons? I remember when Mark Kostabi set up shop on the West Side in Midtown. He had an amazing art factory. For those of you who are not aware, many of these art stars hire or intern young artists to copy their work.
