Black Coy 2019
New group show happening in February:
As you know I’ve been a bit lax about blogging. Come the end of the residency, I will hopefully get back on track. Not that I don’t have much to say, just have to budget my time. Since school is starting, I’ve been inundated with revisiting and rewriting syllabi which as you know, can be very time consuming.
On an up note, the residency (ESKFF at MANA Contemporary) is going great. I’m producing a new series titled: Commit to Memory: The Precipice of Extinction. I committed to producing 8-10 paintings on paper that embrace the topic of extinction (hence the title.) My plan after the residency will be to create an animation of the work that will illustrate the poetry of Nicelle Davis. That’s the plan and hopefully once it’s done, I will be entering the animation into the festival circuit. Sounds a bit ambitious but this topic is extremely important. Nicelle and I have metaphorically linked this topic to the disappearance of our culture and political climate. Powerful indeed but we as artists have the responsibility to record our times and tell the story.
Lullaby of Karpland the process book is now available.
Stay tuned more to come…..
